About this course

Urbanization in China has gained advantage from agglomeration effects and has brought the benefits of economic growth to both urban and rural areas. However, the still-extant structural problems of urbanization include below-average urbanization levels and urbanization lagging behind industrialization. These need to be addressed through institutional reforms to achieve sustainable development. Prof Ming analyzes these structural problems and suggests how agglomeration effects can support more balanced development in the future.
