Zhiwei Xu is an Associate Professor of Economics at Peking University HSBC Business School. Prior to joining HSBC, he has worked as an Associate Professor of Economics at Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Zhiwei Xu recieved his Ph.D. in Economics, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and integrated MA/Ph.D. program from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

His research mainly focuses on Macro Finance, Business Cycle and Chinese Economy. He serves as associate editor for Economic Modelling, China & World Economy, and China Economic Journal. His publications have appeared on Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Development Economics, Economic Theory among many others.
